Blueberry Bliss Smoothie

blueberrybliss

I was on a smoothie frenzy about a month ago. Every night I would come home and my husband and I would dump whatever accessible ingredients we had into a blender to see what kind of magic we could create. This little gem sprung up on a night where supplies were low and we panicked at the thought of not having our smoothie fix. And out of the darkness came light! ... or ... a deliciously fruity yet hearty concoction.

Before we started smoothieing at home I would steer clear of blueberries at the Jamba Juice or Robeks. I would always go the tropical route, mostly out of fear of having seeds and shards of blueberry skin stuck to my teeth all day, looking like a crazy person at a work meeting. But my blueberry perspective has changed thanks to this treat. {This drink is still definitely one to be had in the privacy of your own home or at least somewhere a toothbrush is accessible, but it's flavor combinations are totally worth it! }

This one is now my go-to smoothie creation for when I'm in a pinch. It's quick. It's easy. It's filling and scrumptious.

INGREDIENTS:

{This will make approximately an 8 oz. smoothie. Double it up for a filling meal replacement. It's packed full of protein and antioxidants!}

A heaping 1/2 cup of frozen blueberries (frozen is key - it makes the smoothiness)

1/2 Cup of Almond Milk

1/2 tsp. of cacao powder

1/2 tsp. of agave nectar

1 heaping tbs. of all natural peanut butter

1/4 of a banana (optional)

DIRECTIONS: Throw it all in a blender and blend it up!! Pour and serve. If you don't feel like measuring anything out, pour blueberries in a blender to your liking. Pour almond milk until it just reaches the top of the blueberries. Add remaining ingredients (flavoring to your liking). Sometimes I'm feeling more peanut buttery. Sometimes I like the bitterness of the cacao to come through a bit more than others. Go with what feels right to you!
