My Big Apple Getaway!

Sometimes in life we just need to get away from what we are used to. I've had a lot of change happen in my life the past couple of months and the one thing I knew was that I needed to get the heck out of here!

Sometimes switching things up a bit can really give you new perspective, clarity, and light…

I absolutely love New York and so a week ago I packed my suitcase and headed to the big apple to visit my dearest childhood friends. I told myself it was just time for me to let go, relax, and live a little. I did just that…and a lot of yoga too!

I was reveling in the fact that I could sleep in everyday, which is quite different from my daily routine of the alarm clock ringing at 5:30 am.

I enjoyed daily yoga classes at various studios throughout the city. I went to a little gem of studio called, Mang 'Oh Yoga, on the east side of Manhattan and literally fell in love. You can smell the various oils and candles they have ignited inside from outside the front door of the studio. I light candles every night in my home so they literally had me at the front door. The energy inside studio is incredibly warm and inviting and because of this it became my home away from home for a week. Yoga brings me so much peace and being able to be still in a city that has so much stimulation is such a gift. It is important to find healthy activities that make us happy. For me, yoga is one of those constant things that will forever make my heart full and my body strong.

I'm a flowery blogger because that is literally the person I am outside of my words, so I have to share with you this: One of my favorite messages I took out of one of my classes was, "Make your heart so open it can hold the world." I want to live these words for the rest of my life. When you allow yourself to be yourself, to spread love, light, hope, and goodness to the world, you are spreading that message to others just by being you. And that my friends, is the best thing you can do. That is living…

During my trip I may have gone to yoga everyday but I didn't forget to drink lots of wine and authentic cocktails, eat incredible meals, see spectacular shows, read in Central Park, and even go on a pizza taste testing tour at 2:30 in the morning….Oh it happened…

So how does this all tie into a fitness blog?

Well...sometimes you have to live a little.

We can often lose ourselves in situations that are not always right for us, and I'm finally starting to feel like I have found myself again - and it took a little travel to get me back to that old place.

I love you New York…

Thank you for the best trip I could have asked for…

For the first time in a while - I finally feel like me again :)

Since I'm such a sucker for inspirational words...I hope you take something out of these...
