Yogi Thoughts from Lake Michigan

Howdy Bennerfitter's!

I just stepped back into reality from one of the best weekends of my life…

I began my yoga certification training at Ronora Lodge located in Watervilet, Michigan (I had never heard of it either). It was a magical, mystical, and yoga filled land with organic gardens, hiking trails, lakes with lily pads, and more yoga philosophy that will take me well over a lifetime to digest. It was simply AMAZING.

My new friends gathered from all over the United States to be a part of this intimate group of 40.

What challenged me the most was the emotional side of training. I thought I would go in there learn all sorts of sun salutations and fusions and be ready to go…oh no my friends…oh no….and for that I am so very thankful.

How often do we emotionally challenge ourselves, break down walls, and let go? I won't answer rhetorically but rather tell you that I would say RARELY, if ever. We are always trying to hold it together when it actuality its okay to let go. I'll admit I have a very hard time being vulnerable in front of new people in my life. I'm not afraid to be with the people I am closest with but why not just say what we feel and let it out? I don't know other than we are scared of what the answer may be or scared to fail.

That brings up another topic FAILURE. WOWZA what a scary word. It freaks me out, deeply freaks me out. It is a part of life and the moments when we feel the most broken down and vulnerable are the greatest gifts to our lives. That statement right there I have Eric Paskel to thank, my mentor and teacher. When we are broken down we are vulnerable and learning our greatest lessons. An example of these would be loss, loss of a relationships (in all aspects), death, a job etc…

It's all scary but when we face it right in the eye that is how we grow…why would we want to maintain when we can shape our life to be whatever we see it to be?

So my words of wisdom to you...

Shape YOUR life to be what YOU want it to be…Don't hold back, don't be afraid to be vulnerable, don't be afraid to fail…These are all things that will happen at some point…and guess what? YOU have the choice to either be okay or not…

I hope you all have an amazing Wednesday and I am sending you peace and endless amounts of love from Lake Michigan...
